founder.

MEG SHARMA
Meg is the business owner of Barefoot Eatery in Christchurch, an organic, plant based
and gluten free cafe. She started this business with a dual mission in mind - to support
her daughter as a single parent, provide employment opportunities to women and
provide the community with healthy food options so they could enjoy time with family
and friends, knowing their health is taken care of.
The idea of Pink Taxi is based on the same ethos of freedom. With a background in
Forensics and Psychology, she worked in social services before transitioning into the
food business. There, she engaged with a lot of battered women who had survived
painful experiences and witnessed firsthand how urgent women’s safety and
empowerment are needed. Coming from a heavily male dominated Asian culture and
reading about troubling incidents linked to ride-sharing platforms, both locally and
globally, Meg decided to build a trustworthy service for women and by women.
The Pink Taxi is her answer to empower women by providing safe transport and
employment opportunities grounded in trust, empathy and freedom.
Every ride carries the assurance that passengers are protected by someone who truly
understands the need for peace of mind—whether they’re returning home from a late
shift or heading back from a night out
